A Legacy Built Over Decades

The Annandale Boys & Girls Club Soccer Program has played a foundational role in shaping youth soccer in Northern Virginia for more than 60 years. What began in the early 1960s as a four-team recreational league quickly grew into one of the region’s most respected soccer organizations under the leadership of our founder, Everett Germain.

ABGC was instrumental in expanding opportunities for both boys and girls at every level of the game, introducing soccer into local high schools, colleges, and professional pathways. Over the decades, ABGC coaches and staff have been recognized locally, statewide, and nationally for their contributions to player development and the growth of the sport.

Proven Success, With the Right Priorities

ABGC teams have earned championships at the national, regional, metropolitan, and local levels. While competitive success matters, the club’s core mission has always remained the same:

To provide meaningful soccer opportunities for players ages 4–19 in a positive, development-focused environment.

Many of our most accomplished players began in the ABGC recreational program before advancing through camps, clinics, and travel soccer. ABGC alumni have gone on to play at the varsity high school level, earn college scholarships, and compete professionally.

Notable former ABGC players include:

  • Bill Hamid – D.C. United Goalkeeper
  • John Stollmeyer – U.S. Men’s National Team
  • Jill Ellis – Two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup–winning Head Coach
